n a recent press release, Web AR Agency, Aircards have revealed an innovative retail experience they created with global drinks company, ABInBev and BonV!V Spiked Seltzer.

ABInBev and BonV!V Spiked Seltzer reached out to the specialist Web AR company to create an innovative retail experience for their customers. The global drinks brand worked closely with Aircards to make an experiential Out-of-Home advertising campaign in San Diego and downtown Los Angeles.

The experience created by the Aircards team, is activated through a unique QR code, which passers by can scan with their smartphone or tablet devices. Once scanned, the AR experience will come to life, enhancing the mural graphics on the wall and showcasing a full immersive 3D vending machine with custom animations.

The unique experience allows the passerby to interact with the vending machine, select their favourite can of BonV!V Spiked Seltzer, for the AR vending machine to virtually dispense.

But that’s not where the experience ends, together with the 3D experience is key retail integrated features to help aid with the success of the Out-of-Home advertising campaign.

One of the key features attached to the campaign is a custom branded map  in the California area, which directs the consumer to their nearest store stocking BonV!V Spiked Seltzer. The consumer can select a store in which they are seamlessly transported to Google Maps navigation where they can get directions to the store to purchase a can of refreshing BonV!V.

Another feature of the AR experience is the integrated Instacart, which gives the consumer the ability to instantly purchase their favourite BonV!V drink which can be delivered to their door in just a few hours.

But you don’t have to be in San Diego or downtown Los Angeles to try the AR experience, the BonV!V campaign can also be accessed through a secondary activation channel, where consumers are able to try out the AR experience directly through a social media link and place the 3D vending machine in their own environment, with access to the same retail integration features as the original campaigns.

Social media is flooded with marketing content, so brands need to come up with new, innovative and creative ways to meaningfully connect with their audiences and truly influence the purchasing process through their products. Companies such as BonV!V and ABInBev are leading the innovation for the future of retail experiences by giving consumers a seamless method of purchasing a product they see in an Out-of-Home advertisement.

One of the essential factors to creating a seamless experience for consumers is the use of WebAR, which means that the AR experience can be launched without app download. The experience simply takes place in the mobile web browser of any compatible iOS or Android device, this significantly lowers the barrier to entry in comparison to app-based AR experiences that have come before.

The team at Aircards also revealed that more innovations of the retail experience using WebAR are already in the planning phases with AbInBev and we’ve been told to expect more futuristic, immersive content on our streets in the near future.
