Renowned leader in family entertainment, The Jim Henson Company has collaborated with leaders in immersive storytelling, Felix & Paul Studios, on a recent project which features The Storyteller: The Seven Ravens, a groundbreaking augmented reality trackable storybook experience, which brings to life the tale of a young girl who sets out on an adventure to save her seven brothers from a curse that turned them into ravens. There is no set release date for the AR book The Storyteller: The Seven Ravens but it is due to arrive later this year.

Sunday: Gaode Augmented Reality Navigation App For Drivers

Currently Google Maps is the go to navigation app for drivers, to improve and enhance the driving experience, China based company AutoNavi created Gaode, which supports navigation with augmented reality. The Gaode app assists drivers see which lane they need to be in and what turn they need to take. Gaode is currently only available on android, but an iPhone version is in the works.

Monday Calendar

Monday: The 104th annual Indianapolis 500 In Augmented Reality 

Sporting events around the world have been forced to cancel or postpone to a later date in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, but in recent weeks sporting events are beginning to resume with limited or no audiences. The 104th annual Indianapolis 500, originally arranged for the 24th May, was pushed back to the 23rd August without any fans in attendance; but the organisers wanted to enhance the fan experience from home on race day and turned to a number of cutting edge technologies including AR and 5G. For the event, a 5G-enabled, high-definition, 360-degree camera allowed fans to use their smartphones to access an AR portal. Within the portal, fans could select their preferred perspective and view for greater control over the experience.

Tuesday: Apple’s Journey To $3 Trillion Market Cap With The Help Of Augmented Reality

Apple stock reached a market capitalisation of $2 trillion. Wall Street analysts are discussing how much further it could climb, with one Apple analyst believing it could reach a $3 trillion value. Augmented reality will play a pivotal role if Apple are to reach $3 trillion and according to Munster, he sees AR becoming "the next major computing platform with Apple Glasses available sometime around 2022,"

Thursday: V‍odafone’s Web-based Augmented Reality Direct Mail Campaign With WebAR Agency Aircards

Vodafone, a British multinational telecommunications company, launched an immersive Web AR direct mail campaign with the innovative web-based AR agency Aircards. The postcard was sent out to businesses customers who had to scan a QR code to activate the Web AR experience. The augmented reality revealed Vodafone's current special offer targeted towards existing customers, which could be redeemed through the Vodafone app.

Friday: Amazon Launch AR Room Decorator Shopping Tool

Amazon is in the process of launching a new and upgraded AR tool which allows shoppers to see how furniture and home decor pieces will look in their own home. What sets Amazon’s new AR tool apart from other similar applications is it allows the user to view multiple items at once, allowing the user to design a whole room right from their smartphone. Thousands of products are available to view in AR from both Amazon and third-party sellers which can be accessed by clicking the “view in your room” button on eligible listings.The aim of this is that it will enable consumers to buy a larger amount of products quickly and with confidence.
