igiLens Inc., an innovator in holographic waveguide display technology for extended reality (XR), today announced Design v1, the first pair of smartglasses from the Visualize Framework, designed to power the XR industry forward by giving content developers, OEMs and IoT companies a springboard hardware platform to iterate on unique XR experiences and accelerate the arrival of head worn devices that will change the way we interact with data and our world. Design v1 integrates the latest Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ XR2 Platform within its core glasses frame.  It also houses the DigiLens Crystal50 waveguide to provide an industry-leading waveguide efficiency of over 325 nits/lumen with 80% transparency, a 50-degree field-of-view and 400% less eye glow than the next best waveguide based XR headset on the market today. This optical leadership enables the lightest, brightest and most cost-effective pair of smartglasses available today. Partners can leverage the Visualize Framework to develop their software experiences and, if desired, condense into small and specialized form factors. Design v1 units are shipping now to select partners and will be available in volume by early summer.

XR developers remain limited on what viable platforms to express their content on. Much XR hardware today has failed to ship in any real volume. For the de-facto next generation mobile computing device to take hold, it must exceed the experiences that have come before. The Visualize Framework breaks down these barriers that have been gating mass adoption of a compelling XR offering. The modularity of Design v1 allows for customization at the individual component level (electronics, displays, PGUs and design) and the hardware architecture provides the benefit of speed and flexibility, allowing companies to rapidly iterate on form, fashion, cost, performance and reliability independently, yet in parallel with other parts. The Visualize Framework has been uniquely designed to adapt to software specifications, rather than developers having to fit within the constraints of available hardware.

“Design v1 is brighter, lighter and more capable than any other waveguide based XR device on the market. Our strategy is to empower the forward leaning XR companies in the ecosystem to capitalize on the strengths of an emerging horizontal market,”

said Chris Pickett, CEO of DigiLens.

“We are creating an XR blueprint for the ecosystem to take, add to and adapt as needed for their individual markets and their unique XR software development needs. Expanding the pool of experts and democratizing ideas across the spectrum is what the market has missed to date.”
“Design v1 promises to be an excellent platform to offer our clients cost-effective headworn devices with greater comfort and more processing power, ideally adapted to their use case. We are looking forward to start leveraging the benefits of Design v1 for our XpertEye remote assistance solution and continue to create value and amazing experiences for our customers,”

says Christian Guillemot, CEO of AMA.

The core technology within Design v1 creates a powerful development platform. v1 comes standard with DigiLens’ Crystal50 waveguides, the Snapdragon XR2 Platform and the option for partners to pair to their custom light engine or use the Coretronic 720p projector.

DigiLens’ Crystal50 waveguide has an an industry leading waveguide efficiency measurement of over 300 nits/lumen with four-times less eyeglow than the optics in HoloLens 2, a transmissivity rating of up to 80%, an eyebox of 12mm-by-10mm, a field-of-view 44°(h)-by-25°(v), 50°(d), with a landscape orientation and a focus distance of infinity. Because the waveguide displays lenses are attachable, Digilens can continue to refine their performance and deliver better displays to our partners as they develop their experiences.

DigiLens Design v1 will be available to qualified partners starting at the end of June 2021. To find out more, please visit: www.digilens.com
