ritish rapper, singer, composer and entrepreneur Tinie Tempah performs on top of Burger King’s iconic Whopper sandwich to perform his latest single ‘Whoppa’ in a fun and entertaining AR experience from BBH London and Dimension Studios.

Throughout August, customers in the UK can scan a QR code found on Whopper wrappers, to launch the AR experience and see Tinie Tempah perform his latest track on their smartphone screens. The experience, created with WebAR can be accessed directly through your smartphone browser, so there’s no app to download. Tiny Tinie and the CGI burger appear on your table, you can pinch to scale and spin the performance 360 degrees.

When asked about the recent collaboration with Burger King, Tinie stated:

"When we made this song, the vibe was all about summertime and bringing that Latin heat and energy to the U.K. music scene—not so much about burgers… But when Burger King reached out on Twitter, we immediately knew we just had to collaborate. Of all the ways I'd be launching a single in 2020, I couldn't have predicted it would be through a performance on top of a flame-grilled Whopper!"

When Tinie Tempah released his single ‘Whoppa’ a few weeks ago, Burger King approached the artist about collaborating as the similarity between their Whopper and Tinie’s song was too tasty to ignore.

Burger King and Tinie have both promoted the event on social media along with agency BBH through social and outdoor elements. The AR experience has been targeted towards 18 to 30 year olds, said agency data strategy director Saskia Jones, who went on to say:

"Not only have some of them grown up with Tinie, they're also the ones that interact with AR regularly on social, making tiny Tinie the perfect sweet spot to engage a notoriously hard-to-reach audience."

The music industry is creating new and innovative ways to reach their audiences and with the help of cutting edge AR technology, artists and brands are able to connect with their audiences in a meaningful way.
