he Consumer Electronics Show has officially announced that CES 2021 will be taking place as a live, in person event with planning already underway.
This comes as exciting news for technology enthusiasts and businesses that leverage the shows impressive footfall numbers. Rumours of major brands and top-tier speakers are floating around, with announcements hopefully coming later this year.
While the 3-day live event is due to take place as normal, proceedings will differ from previous years. CES have confirmed they will be following clear recommendations from public health experts, as well as the standards set by local governments.
These will likely include things like:
- Sanitisation stations will be available throughout the shows different venues
- Queuing etiquette will change to enable social distancing. Greater distances between show guests as well as wider aisles when browsing booths
- Key recommendations will be communicated to show goers, such as wearing masks where possible and avoiding personal contact like shaking hands
- Encourage and increase the amount of digital transaction points for purchasing things like food and drink
Alongside the physical recommendations during the show, CES are also increasing their digital delivery efforts for 2021. This includes much wider choice of online content available to attendees to consume, such as live-streams and webinars.
An [nofollow]official statement from CES writes:
“Your and health are always a priority at CES, and we continue to evaluate and expand the measures we put in place. We are working closely with the Las Vegas community, including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and hotels venues, as they develop and implement their re-opening plans.“
The return of CES will be a blessing for technology lovers and fans of the long-standing technology show. The recent pandemic lockdown has made this year feel pretty negative, and there’s been less of a focus on new tech while reporting on lockdown has been going on. CES 2021 will be a welcome respite... Bring on 2021!
